The Green Bay Packers and Sargento Foods Inc. are extending their successful ‘Touchdowns for Hunger’ initiative into the 2023 NFL playoffs. For every Packers touchdown, Sargento donates $2,000 to hunger relief organizations in Wisconsin, benefiting Paul’s Pantry in Green Bay and Hunger Task Force in Milwaukee. This year, the program has raised $88,000, adding to the over $1.8 million contributed since 2002.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary, Packers alumnus Donald Driver has joined the cause, raising awareness and contributing an additional $20,000, bringing the total donation to $104,000 this season. “We’re proud to continue our partnership with the Packers who share our commitment to our community,” said Louie Gentine, CEO of Sargento Foods. Sherrie Tussler, CEO of Hunger Task Force, added, “The annual donation we receive directly supports Milwaukee’s network of emergency food pantries, soup kitchens, and homeless shelters.”
Founded in 1953 in Plymouth, Wisconsin, Sargento Foods is a family-owned company known for introducing pre-packaged sliced and shredded natural cheeses. Today, with over 2,500 employees and $1.8 billion in net sales, Sargento continues to prioritize community support.
This initiative demonstrates the powerful impact of partnerships between major sports teams and local businesses in addressing food insecurity and supporting vulnerable communities in Wisconsin.
