Food Bank of Wyoming Sets May 13 Drive to Eradicate Hunger

In a significant development for Food Bank of Wyoming, it has been announced as the recipient of the highly anticipated Natrona County 2023 Stamp Out Hunger food drive, set to take place on May 13. This annual event, organized by the National Association of Letter Carriers, stands as the largest food drive in the nation, involving over 10,000 cities and towns nationwide. With a surge of food donations expected on this one-day drive, Food Bank of Wyoming is actively seeking volunteers in the Casper area to lend a hand in receiving and sorting the donations.

To participate in the food drive, residents will find an orange bag in their mailboxes, which they are encouraged to fill with non-perishable food items. On May 13, letter carriers will collect these bags during their regular routes. All collected food will be transported to the Food Bank of Wyoming‘s distribution center in the Casper area, where it will undergo sorting and subsequent distribution to Natrona County Hunger Relief Partners.

To ensure a smooth operation, Food Bank of Wyoming has organized three volunteer shifts on May 13. Volunteers can choose from the following time slots: the first shift runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the second from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., and the third from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The food bank will provide all necessary supplies, comprehensive instructions, and even snacks to keep volunteers energized through their shifts.

Those interested in lending a helping hand can sign up for a shift by calling 307.265.2172. Volunteering at a local food bank or distribution center, such as the Food Bank of Wyoming, not only provides crucial assistance to community members experiencing hunger but also offers numerous benefits for the volunteers themselves.
