Oklahoma City, OK | Today marks the launch of Feed the Children’s latest Public Service Announcement (PSA) Campaign titled “If Words Were Enough,” a collaboration with the poetry advocacy group Poetry X Hunger. The nonprofit organization, renowned for its commitment to eliminating childhood hunger, seeks to harness the emotive power of poetry to spark discussion and mobilize the public toward ending food insecurity among children.
Canadian poet Josephine LoRe’s poignant piece “Enough,” featured on the Poetry X Hunger platform, serves as the centerpiece of the campaign, delivering a powerful narrative for the PSA. With vivid recitations and compelling on screen storytelling, the initiative invites audiences to imagine a world where the specter of hunger is but a distant memory. The campaign underscores the collective aspirations of parents for their children’s healthy growth, free from the constraints of hunger, aiming to foster a spirit of empathy and proactive engagement.
Chris Gard, the Vice President of Marketing Communications and Creative at Feed the Children, expressed the organization’s ambition to reshape the conversation around childhood hunger, emphasizing the ubiquity of food insecurity and the importance of unified, incremental efforts to secure a future of sustained nourishment for the younger generations. “By coupling our message of hope with the call to action that this campaign embodies, we seek to galvanize individuals, communities, and corporate entities to join forces in the fight against hunger. Words must be the precursor to action,” said Gard. “Our goal is to ignite a passion for change that translates into tangible, life altering results for children everywhere.”
Recent statistics have raised alarm over the state of food insecurity in households with children, revealing that 5 million children in the United States currently live in environments lacking sufficient food. A startling figure indicates that 1 in 8 American children faces uncertainty about their next meal, according to the latest data. In response to this pressing issue, Feed the Children reaffirms its dedication to eradicating childhood hunger by facilitating access to food and necessities.
The organization’s new “If Words Were Enough” Public Service Announcement (PSA), created in partnership with Poetry X Hunger, seeks to draw public attention to the daily challenges of food insecurity that countless children and families encounter. This campaign underscores the crucial role that proper nutrition plays not only in the physical growth and development of children but also in setting the foundation for prosperous futures.
Feed the Children is calling on the community to translate their concern into action by getting involved through donations, volunteering efforts, or advocacy, which can all be initiated via their website.
The impact of Feed the Children’s work has been profound. In the year 2022 alone, the organization successfully distributed roughly 92.6 million pounds of food and essential goods worldwide, positively affecting over 11.5 million individuals globally.
