Donate Items to Food Banks with Community Carts

In an effort to combat food insecurity affecting 34 million Americans, Instacart has launched an innovative program called Community Carts. This initiative, announced on Giving Tuesday, revolutionizes the concept of traditional food drives. Through the Instacart App, individuals can now easily donate essential groceries to food banks, directly addressing their most pressing needs.

Community Carts enables users to participate in a collective effort by building crowdsourced carts for more than 100 local Feeding America member food banks across the U.S. Instacart is waiving delivery and service fees for every donation order, ensuring that the entire focus is on aiding those in need.

From the start of Giving Tuesday until December 4, Instacart is amplifying this impact by matching every dollar spent on Community Cart orders, up to $100,000, as a donation to Feeding America.

To contribute, customers can simply access the Instacart App or visit their website, select a participating food bank, and shop from a personalized wish list curated based on the local community’s needs. Instacart shoppers will then deliver these items directly to the food banks, adhering to their donation guidelines. The goal is to see collective donations grow significantly through this period, as customers across the nation join in the Community Carts initiative.

This program is designed to simplify the donation process, allowing millions to contribute food items this holiday season effortlessly. Each Community Cart is tailored to the specific requirements of individual food banks, including a range of highly sought-after items like canned goods, whole grains, nut butters, and cooking oils. After making a donation, customers have the option to share their contribution through messaging or social media, encouraging others to participate in the #GiveFromTheCart campaign.

Alongside the Community Carts initiative, Instacart is also supporting Partnership for a Healthier America’s Giving Tuesday campaign by matching donations dollar for dollar up to $50,000.

These efforts are part of the broader Instacart Health initiative, aimed at enhancing nutrition security among communities most in need. Community Carts, currently available on the Instacart App for iOS and soon for Android, represents a significant step forward in this mission. For more information on how to participate and #GiveFromTheCart this holiday season, Instacart encourages visiting their website.

Instacart’s message is clear: Happy Giving Tuesday and happy holidays, with a reminder that a simple tap can make a significant difference in someone’s life. 🛒🥫
