Baptist Health System : Healthy over Hungry Cereal Drive

In the ongoing battle against hunger, the dedicated health professionals at Northeast Baptist Hospital are making a significant impact by channeling their passion into the 9th annual “Healthy Over Hungry” cereal drive. Texas, unfortunately, ranks second in the nation for food insecurity, and within Bexar County, an alarming statistic reveals that one in four children do not know where their next meal will come from.

Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Bill Waechter, CEO of Baptist Children’s Hospital, emphasizes the importance of such an event, stating, “An event like this is where we can look at outside people who need that help, particularly with inflation and factors out there, it’s a great thing people can pour their energy into and help kids.” The need for action is clear, and the health professionals are determined to lend a helping hand to those in need.Last year, the Baptist Health System made a remarkable impact by collecting over 18,000 servings of cereal. This year, their aspirations soar higher as they strive to exceed that number. Waechter declares their ambitious goal, stating, “Our goal this year is we want to hit 25,000.” The commitment and determination of the Baptist Health System are evident as they aim to make a substantial difference in the lives of those struggling with food insecurity. For those interested in joining the cause, the process is simple. Cereal donations can be dropped off at any of the six Baptist Health System Hospitals, each conveniently located throughout San Antonio. The hospital locations are as follows:

The hospitals are accepting cereal donations until Monday, allowing ample time for concerned individuals to contribute and make a positive impact on the lives of those affected by food insecurity. The commitment and collective efforts of the health professionals, as well as the support of the community, have the potential to alleviate hunger and provide much-needed nourishment to those in need.
