The spirit of Halloween and tradition of community support is alive and well in the Reid household, as they gear up to host their annual Halloween Haunt for the fourth consecutive year.
“Embracing our growing flair for Halloween, this year we nurtured our own pumpkin patch, including a colossal sized pumpkin that will join an assembly of the supernatural in our haunted yard,” gushed Nicole Reid, the event’s organizer.
Over the past few years, the Reid clan has dedicated their time to putting together a thrilling outdoor walkthrough event that rallies support for their local food bank.
A reflection on last year’s efforts shows that the Reids raised more than $1,300.00 and successfully amassed a sizable collection of non perishable food items – enough to fill the bed of a pickup truck.
The invitation to the Reids’ Halloween Haunt, a spine-chilling fundraiser for the Kincardine Food Bank, has again been thrown open to the community. The festivities will be held at 953 Boardwalk St., with the fun unfolding on both October 27 and 28, from 7 p.m. through to 9 p.m.
Admission to the all ages event comes with a request: a donation in the form of a food item or monetary aid, with every cent of the generated funds earmarked for the food bank.
“In a move to warm the hearts and stomachs of those present, The Soup Spoon Company has graciously committed to offering two homemade soups that can be procured via a donation,” shared Nicole. The idea, she says, is to encourage a convivial atmosphere while attendees mingle.
Nicole further disclosed that a bake sale featuring a wide array of goodies available by donation will also run parallel to the event. The realm of generosity extends as the Bruce Shrine Club intends to set up a stall selling festive Christmas items.
“We eagerly anticipate welcoming everyone to join in the Halloween fun and giving spirit,” concluded Nicole enthusiastically.
