CPKC Holiday Train Returns : Spreading Cheer and Fighting Hunger

The iconic Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) Holiday Train is set to roll through the ArkLaTex this December, bringing its unique blend of holiday magic and community support to the region. Now in its 26th year, this brightly lit train will journey from Canada to the southern United States, combining dazzling light displays and live musical performances with a mission to combat food insecurity.

The CPKC Holiday Train, operated by a railway company spanning over 32,000 miles of track across North America, transforms into a festive spectacle for one month each year. From November 21 through December 20, the train will make stops across Canada and the U.S., spreading holiday joy while raising money and collecting food donations for local food banks.

Since its inception in 1999, the Holiday Train program has raised more than $24.3 million and collected approximately 5.3 million pounds of food for communities in need. This year, the train will make its highly anticipated stop in Shreveport on Monday, December 2, 2024, at 4550 North Lakeshore Drive. The event, scheduled from 7:45 p.m. to 8:15 p.m., will feature live performances by American Authors and KT Tunstall from the train’s brilliantly illuminated stage.

In a statement, CPKC President and CEO Keith Creel highlighted the train’s enduring impact. “The Holiday Train unites people in the spirit of the season as it travels across Canada and the United States, while generating critical support for our neighbors in need through the program’s support of local food banks. We are pleased to again send this magical train on a four week trip across our network spreading holiday joy as we collect food and raise money to fight food insecurity. We look forward to seeing all the smiles and cheers from people young and old coming together in the spirit of giving.”

At each stop, CPKC makes donations to local food banks, encouraging attendees to contribute as well. Donations of heart healthy non – perishable foods and monetary contributions are welcomed to support the effort.
